Angelcare AC401 Product Introduction
For Moms and Dads that prefer a Sound monitor over a video monitor WITHOUT scrimping on Safety.
If you’ve got more than one child at home, chances are that you’re not going to have time to keep looking at a video feed of your baby since you’re probably running around after your other child. But what audio monitor can stand up to a video monitor? Isn’t video better?
Not necessarily, especially if you use a sound AND motion sensor monitor for added safety.
Features of the Angelcare AC401 Deluxe Movement and Sound Monitor
· Under-the-mattress Sensor Pad(s) detects all baby’s movements (in the deluxe AC401 you’ll get 2 sensor pads)
· Alarm sounds after 20 seconds if absolutely no movement is detected
· Adjustable sensitivity
· Battery or AC adapter operated
· Optional ‘tic” sound to hear baby’s movements
· 8 channels to minimize interference
· Automatically converts to battery in case of power failure

How easy is the monitor to use?
Simply place the pads flat under the mattress on top of a board and connect the pads to the transmitter (triangular shaped device with ring at the top), connect everything. Charge the batteries (love that the batteries can be recharged!) and you are pretty much good.
This video will also help you with setup:
The transmitter has 2 switches; on/off and nightlight on/off. All of the configuration is achieved using the parental receivers. You can configure the system to alert you when the baby makes noise, stops moving, and when the temperature in the room is too hot or too cold. You can select to receive audible alerts or vibrating alerts or both. When the system is active, if there is no motion detected after a some period of time, the transmitter will beep in the baby’s room. This beep is a reminder for the baby to breathe in case he/she is suffering from apnea. If there is still no motion detected after the beep, the system will alert via the parental receivers.
The screen on the parent unit is well lit, so at night if you need to change the settings, you can do so without turning on the light in your room, waking the parent that is still sleeping.
The temperature is displayed on the parent’s units, which can alert you when the temperature falls out of your preset range. If one parent goes into the room, there is a mute button you can press so there is no beep from the motion sensor. Think noise snooze button.
The volume is adjustable, and you can change channels. Additional features include an out-of-range indicator, a parent’s unit locator, optional voice activation and a color LCD on each parent’s unit which displays all the data.
The peace of mind that is provided by the Angelcare is invaluable especially if you have a baby under a year old or with some breathing difficulties. There are so many stories of parents that have gotten to their babies just in time due to the alarm detecting no movement and I am so glad that this product is out there for all of us families. Way to go BeBe Sounds for making a product that really helps families!
Sound
8 channels to minimize interference
How good is the reception? The range on the receivers (parent devices) is excellent even in the ‘dead zones’ of a house where often cordless phones don’t work. This model operates on both 927 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The sound monitor operates on the 927 MHz frequency so there is no interference from 2.4 GHz equipment or wi-fi. The monitor has 8 channels and an 820′ range. The receivers also have a sturdy little clip on the back so you can clip it to your shirt and walk around hands free.
The Angelcare AC401 also has a voice activation option so you can set it up to only transmit when there is sound, or you can turn that audio detect feature off and just get the steady audio feed transmitted to your parent receiver.
Power/Operation
Automatically converts to battery in case of power failure
Low battery indicator
How long do the batteries last? The receivers give you a warning when the batteries start to go, it beeps once every 15 seconds or so. What I love about the Angelcare is that there is room to change the 4 AAA rechargeable batteries. (If you purchase the ac401 though, you don’t have to worry too much about the power of the receiver going out because it comes with 2 parent units so if one goes out you have the other! Yay for sleep deprived parents
The charge in the Angelcare ac401 will probably last a bit longer than the video monitor (the AC1100) because is not a video monitor, but really in both models the receivers hold their charge for a long time and of course you can recharge or change the batteries when it’s time.
Pros and Cons of the Angelcare AC401
Pros:
- Safety, Safety Safety. You cannot find another monitor with so many stories of parents who were able to save their baby’s life after the alarm sounded when the monitor sensed no movement or sound.
- Top motion sensor on the market, there isn’t much competition from other makers in the sound + motion sensor monitor technology.
- Easy to Set up, no complicated installation required
- Easily transportable from one room to another or even to another house if you’re traveling.
- 2 parent units so no worries about recharging each unit every night before bed in case you forgot
- Soft nightlight for the baby’s room, and well lit parent unit so one parent doesn’t need to turn on the bedroom light to make any changes
- Converts into a sound monitor only when the motion detector pad is no longer needed
Cons:
- Need to get a wooden board to place under the crib to prevent false alarms. One more trip to Home Depot!
- There are cords that will be coming out from under the mattress into the baby monitor so you need to make sure you place those cords safely away from baby
- Motion sensor technology is not as familiar as some of the other popular and well known baby monitors makers.
Who is this baby monitor for?
- Any family with a newborn baby that wants a monitor that will not give them static, interference, and will accurately “report” their baby’s sounds and motions.
- A baby that is prone to reflux, sleep apnea, underweight, or any other complications
Why this baby monitor is worth buying…
- You won’t find a SAFER baby monitor
- Easy and readily accessible and available to buy in all of the major retailers.
- Very competitively priced, not expensive.
I always recommend purchasing from Amazon because of their very competitive pricing as well as their top customer service. If you click on this link, you’ll get the AC401 with the 2 parent units AND the 2 sensor pads, not available on all the models

What Other Moms and Dads had to say about the Angelcare AC401
“I would tell every new mother to make sure to buy this product. It works great. The monitor itself is awesome. I like the temp. component. I now know that my baby sleeps best at 73 degrees and this helps me keep her happy and warm. I also sleep much better at night now. Each time I take her out of the crib..it gives me a warning beep and then the alarm sounds. It definitely picks up on breathing movement even when she is on the edge of the crib. A small price to pay for a little more peace of mind! I want to tell all my friends to buy this monitor. It makes so much more sense than the video monitors. If I had only known about it sooner, I would have bought it when she came home from the hospital.” – Christina
“SAVED MY 6 WK OLD PREMATURE BABIES LIFE TWO DAYS AGO” -Walter
“I am a new mom and a little paranoid. Before we got this monitor I was up all the time checking on our son to make sure he was breathing. He slept so soundly that it was hard to tell. With the monitor I can sleep soundly too knowing that the alarm will let me know if he isn’t ok. We use it in his pack n play and it works great.. just placed the pad on a piece of wood.” – S. McCloskey
