You have a real 3 in 1 baby monitor here being that the AC1100 is the best of sensor monitoring, video monitoring, and audio monitoring. If you’ve looked at some of the other Angelcare models, all of the amazing features of the other deluxe Angelcare models are of course in this new video monitor so not to worry if you fell in love with one of their other one’s too.
You’ll still get the the quality, reliability, safety, and precision that the Angelcare brand is known for when it comes to monitoring your child’s movements -even though you’ve got 3 really important activities blended into 1 monitor. Just in case you were wondering
But how good is the video on the Angelcare AC1100 and is it worth it?
Well firstly, the video transmission is in color which makes it easier for you to see your baby and identify how he/she looks in her bed with all of the objects around her. Not that it is an essential feature, but if you’re going to invest in the best, you might as well enjoy the color feature.
How about the quality of the video at night?
Because an infared camera is being used, there’s no need for turning the light on in your room to see anything or opening the door. (At least one parent can get some sleep!) Sometimes, if the baby’s room is really dark, since the nighttime vision feature automatically kicks in when there is low light, you might be seeing “night” when it’s really day. This won’t affect you too much of course, and there’s really nothing you need to do about it since you’ll still be able to see and detect your baby, just be aware of that light sensor feature.
How big is the screen?
The screen is a 2.75 LCD screen and is touch screen! Wow! You know, in my hours and hours of research on other baby monitors and other companies (notice I don’t review too many other companies besides Angelcare because there are too many safety concerns that I have with them), I saw one company who boasts of the touchscreen feature. I don’t really see Angelcare actively promoting this feature but wow! It’s kind of like an iphone touchscreen if you think about it. That really is a huge convenience because some other monitors are hard to use with buttons that you have to keep pressing to get to the right menu features or buttons that aren’t lit up at night so you need to turn on a light to see them
What else do you need to know?
One other thing. If you’d like to tilt the screen for better viewing, there are holes at the bottom of the camera so you can thread a small bendable tripod (like a Gorilla Pod) through the holes and then mount the camera on your baby’s crib. Bend it, tilt it, and what a nice feature this is for maximum viewing. They really thought of everything didn’t they?
The motion sensors are the same under the mattress sensor pads with the variable sensitivity settings that you can adjust for higher or lower sensitivity. Basically, you need to come to a happy medium with your babies movements so you’re not getting too many false alarms. See how that can be prevented with use of a flat surface under the mattress.
Temperature display and control: Monitors and shows the temperature in the baby’s room with the temperature indicator on the Parents Unit. Alarm sounds if the temperature is too high or too low.
How long does the power last?
Another “can’t live without” feature of the Angelcare monitors is that you can change the batteries so if you lose power and can’t use the cord to charge up the parent unit, you can simply use 4 AAA batteries. Either way, if you charge the unit through power cord or use batteries, you should have at least 8 hours of power for the AC1100 Video monitor when it’s fully charged.
Pros and Cons of the Angelcare AC1100
Pros
- Very clear video picture
- Touchscreen
- Video in Color
- Good quality Nighttime video
- No static or interference
Cons
-You’re going to want to invest a little bit of time and money putting a piece of wood under the baby’s crib for the sensor pad to rest on. (so the sensor pad goes on top of the board but also under the mattress. That way you’ll get a lot less false alarms. For some reason without that flat board, the sensor seems to think something is wrong even if it’s not, and then it sounds an alarm. Pretty reliable though isn’t it?!
-If you want to tilt the screen, you need to mount a little tripod in the bottom holes of the video transmitter, another trip to Home depot!
Who is this baby monitor for?
- Families that want the safest and best in digital video baby monitoring technology
- Babies that have reflux that need to be watched
- Older, active babies that do naughty tricks in their crib

“I’m a first time mom and so I don’t have much experience with older baby monitors, but this was is seriously awesome. The quality of the video is so clear and even in the dark you can see via some type of cool infrared technology. The sound is also quite good and of course Angelcare’s trademark ability to notify parents if there is no movement is great. It was also pretty easy to setup and the monitor itself is really lightweight. ” – Z. from WA
